Before you purchase a traditional jogging stroller - STOP - there may be a better option for you.
People are much more aware of being fit, getting fit and staying fit. Even moms and dads with little kids or babies want to continue to run, go for a jog, take a powerwalk - and they want to do it with their kids. This has resulted in many people choosing to purchase a jogging stroller to get them 'out there' being active.
Traditional joggers are great for serious runners/joggers. They are built to be easy to push and for a comfortable ride for their passengers. They have 2 16" wheels in the back (which provide the smooth ride and easy pushing) and they have one 16" front wheel which is locked in place. The fixed wheel is designed to keep the stroller tracking straight and true when out for a run. To turn the stroller you tilt it back slightly so the front wheel is just off the ground.
The fixed front wheel is perfect for people that run or jog everyday because it is what provides the stroller with the ability to roll straight and it also keeps the stroller very stable while in motion.
However, many parents that like to jog with their child want more flexibility from their baby jogging stroller. They want their stroller to be used both for jogging but also for other uses such as using the stroller at the mall.
The problem for some folks with a traditional jogger is the front wheel that is 'locked' in place. Making a turn with this type of stroller can be awkward especially in tight areas such as an aisle-way at the grocery store.

The big difference is that even though this new type of stroller still has two large back wheels (air-filled 16 inches in diameter which provide for a smooth ride and easy push) you gain flexibility in that the front wheel can swivel or it can be locked in place. When you want maximum maneuvarability like when you are out shopping or moving through a crowded airport you unlock the front wheel so that it swivels - making it easy to turn the stroller especially in 'tight' spaces. When it is time for you run or power-walk - you press a button on the stroller to lock the front wheel in place (straight-tracking mode).

* More flexibility for shopping and running errands since its swivel wheel allows much easier turning than a traditional jogging stroller.
* Just like a regular jogging stroller these are ultra-light. That's important when pushing it - and when you put it in and out of your vehicle.
* Super-durable and light. This new style stroller usually has an aluminum frame which means it will last a long time and shouldn't rust.
* Passenger comfort. The two rear wheels are built similar to bicycle tires (spoked wheels with air-filled tires) making the ride for your child very smooth.
* Baby is safe and secure with the harness style (5 point harness) that these strollers are manufactured with.
* Sun Protection - Look for a stroller that has a sun canopy that has the flexibility to provide shade to your baby no matter what the angle of the sun.
* Easily folds-down by one person. These new strollers have a quick process for folding down - and it can be done by one person. Why is this important? You won't always have the luxury of having a second person nearby to help to collapse the stroller.
* Flexible-height adjusting handle bar. If your partner is 6 foot 5, and you are five foot 2 you'll want a stroller that has handle bars that can move up and down with the touch of a lever. Many of the 'hybrid' strollers now have flex-height handle bars.
* Within your budget. A top-quality stroller (with a 20 year warranty) with a swivel front wheel (that can be locked straight) can be purchased on the internet for under $280.
